Certificate Trading

Greenhouse gas emissions are offset by purchasing emissions certificates from climate protection projects. The mechanism of emissions trading is anchored in the Kyoto Protocol. For several years now, it has also been increasingly used by companies which are not obligated to do so. These companies are participating in what is known as the voluntary market.

ClimatePartner consults in questions of emissions offsetting and defines compensation strategies. Furthermore, ClimatePartner supports its clients and partners in the search for and selection of suitable climate protection projects, identifies projects on the market with the adequate technology, region and quality, and creates individual climate protection portfolios on behalf of clients.

If the client so wishes, ClimatePartner will provide assistance in certificate procurement by serving as an independent consultant, intermediary and – on an individual basis for volumes of less than 5,000 tons – as a reseller. To that end, ClimatePartner holds certificates for its clients and partners based on various technologies, representative regions and qualities.

ClimatePartner recommends purchasing VER Gold Standard certificates in association with emissions offsetting.
