CO2-Footprint
The basis for all individual improvements in climate protection is a company’s CO2-footprint. That footprint is calculated using the provisions in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) and is the starting point for defining climate protection strategies and measures for meeting the climate protection objectives formulated in those strategies.
ClimatePartner has at its disposal the experience from over 200 CO2 footprints in a variety of industries and countries – everything from the simple calculation of a company’s greenhouse gas balance to complex carbon footprints on products with a high vertical range of manufacturing and a wide range of raw material suppliers and semi-finished products.
Our mantra in calculating CO2 balances for companies and products is to achieve the highest level of reliability and resilience in the data yielded to be in line with the most advanced level of current scientific research.
Your Decision
Don’t fool yourself: Every company causes CO2 emissions, including yours. And no, the fact that other industries cause more greenhouse gases than your industry is not a decisive factor. The objective is for your company to produce less CO2 emissions in the future than it does today.
If you want to achieve this goal, there is just one thing you must do: Begin now with small, well planned steps to become better. We are happy to provide you with support in planning, but in the beginning there will only be your conviction to promote climate protection in your company.
CO2 Balance
Commercial climate protection is bit like accounting: To start, inventory is taken. This inventory is the opening CO2 balance of your company, so to speak. At the end, you want to know, of course, how much CO2 is generated in your company’s business operation. Your company’s CO2 balance will identify emissions sources and quantify emissions. You will recalculate the CO2 balance sheet every business year.
ClimatePartner has established this foundation for numerous domestic and international companies and can support you in all questions surrounding CO2 balancing.
Climate Protection Strategy
A CO2 balance is needed as a sound foundation to develop your company’s climate protection strategy. Having clear reduction targets is a part of this. The measures needed to meet those targets are a part of that. Responsibilities, deadlines and budgets are in turn a part of that. Just like any other project which is promising of success.
ClimatePartner can conceptualize a strategy, provide you with support in formulating your climate protection objectives, suggest the appropriate measures, document them and assess the results attained.
Measures
You want to change things for the better. In addition to competence in climate protection, this requires a particular level of persuasive power, fantasy, experience with change processes, strength in purpose and time. The quality with which these measures are implemented is what will determine how much you achieve for your company in and with climate protection.
ClimatePartner’s core business is implementing climate protection measures. We’ll be with you on-site, working with you on designing and convincing. We’ll train your employees and make presentations to your key clients. We’ll perform calculations, optimize processes, design new product offers for you and will be, if you so wish, your climate protection representative.
Marketing
Climate protection is a very sensitive topic. It affects everyone, and at times even arouses fear. Keep this in mind whenever making statements concerning climate protection. If you communicate in an authentic, honest and credible manner, you statements will be received favorably and foster your objectives. If you use an unfocused tone, you may be accused of “green washing,” a term used to describe deceptive use of green marketing.
There are errors in climate protection communications that we can protect ourselves against, as others have already committed them. And there are tried and true methods in communicating climate protection and sustainability services. We are also happy to communicate those, as well.
