ClimatePartner New Consulting Partner for Carbon Disclosure Project SME Initiative

The CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) logs the climate data of some 4,000 large and stock market companies in 60 countries worldwide – CDP SME Initiative: ClimatePartner is leveraging its consulting expertise and the experience gleaned from thousands of client projects to provide support – CDP ratings are the most important performance indicators worldwide for sustainability reporting

Berlin/Munich – The international CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and ClimatePartner are now collaborating: The climate protection specialist is supporting companies in greenhouse gas emissions reporting as a consulting partner for the CDP SME Initiative. The objective of this cooperation is to continue to expand systematic climate protection and emissions management for SMEs and family-run businesses.

CDP is a non-profit organization. Over the past ten years, it has logged climate data from over 4,000 large market listed companies in 60 countries all over the world and assessed sustainability reporting using rating standards for transparency and performance. The CDP SME Initiative has been launched for family-managed and non-listed businesses. “The CDP SME Initiative makes it possible for non-listed companies to report and analyze their greenhouse gas emissions systematically in a manner analogous to the CDP’s internationally leading reporting standard”, explained Susan Dreyer, Director and Head of Programs and Markets for the CDP DACH Region. “Our new consulting partner ClimatePartner’s expertise complements our services, which we leverage to support participants on their path to a comprehensive climate strategy.”

CDP SME participants profit from personal consulting through experienced consultants. One specific example here would be the uncovering of cost savings potential in their business processes within the scope of CDP reporting, and then identifying new business opportunities through climate protection. “ClimatePartner’s approach of ‘climate protection creates growth opportunity’ underscores the motivation among our participants,” emphasizes Jens Hoffmann, SME Project Manager at CDP.
Today, ClimatePartner works with over 1,000 clients from various industries. “We develop specifically tailored climate protection solutions for individual companies as well as ClimatePartner Solutions for a wide array of industries, such as web applications for efficient carbon calculation and compensation. In both cases, we integrate climate protection into our clients’ value creation chain to clear their path for growth potential,” explains Moritz Lehmkuhl, Founder and CEO of ClimatePartner.

In Germany, more than 170 of the largest companies are now participating in annual CDP reporting – including all DAX30 companies. The SME Initiative has already acquired 12 participants ranging from large international corporations (Bosch, Evonik) to small and medium-sized enterprises (Delipapier, Wiedemann Wachswaren). “The active participation among pioneers contributes to the ‘climate change’ factor increasingly being integrated into strategic direction and risk management,” explains Susan Dreyer. Benchmarking enables SME businesses to measure themselves using data from leading market-listed companies, thereby making it possible to enhance their own climate strategy.
