ClimatePartner New GreenTec Awards Climate Protection Partner
Climate neutral event: Over 1,000 guests will enjoy climate friendly attendance to Europe’s largest environmental and economic awards ceremony
Munich/Berlin – The GreenTec Awards, Europe’s most important environmental and business awards, will be taking place climate neutrally next year. More than 1,000 guests from industry, academia, politics and media, 100 project partners and exhibitors, as well as 50 prominent ambassadors will profit from this green, climate neutral event concept.
On 29 May 2015, the eighth GreenTec Awards will be held in Berlin. The award’s objective is to promote ecological and business commitment and to advance enthusiasm for technology. “The GreenTec Awards present very concrete solutions in the interest of creating a greener future.” We are underlining that aim by presenting a climate neutral awards ceremony,” explains Marco Voigt, GreenTec Awards initiator and organizer.
“The GreenTec Awards are assuming their responsibility as host and fortifying the background and objectives of these environmental awards with a modern, climate neutral concept for carrying out the event,” emphasizes Tristan A. Foerster, ClimatePartner CEO.
ClimatePartner is calculating the exact carbon footprint created by the awards ceremony. It will include all relevant greenhouse gas emissions generated by the event. Factors taken into account include energy consumption, mobility, logistics, catering, accommodation and guest arrivals and departures. “We’re already reducing carbon emissions, for example through the selection of our venue, environment friendly paper, and vegetarian catering. However, we want to go one step further and make an even greater contribution to tackle climate change,” says Marco Voigt.
Unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions will be offset in their equivalent volume through support for a carbon offset project with Gold Standard certification. Carbon offset projects are proven to save carbon emissions, are certified with internationally recognized standards, and are audited by independent third parties on a regular basis.
Climate protection is being integrated into the event with measures like a carbon calculator for guest travel and labeling climate neutral printed materials. “We want to show our guests that climate protection can be implemented in a business context,” says Voigt. “Companies can leverage green and climate neutral events, and even employ climate neutral products to highlight their own environmental strategy,” explains Tristan A. Foerster.
Launch of online voting

Everyone has an opportunity to vote online for his or her favorite candidates under the TOP 10 until 11 January 2015 at www.greentec-awards.com/wettbewerb/online-voting-2015.html.
