Gloves for extreme conditions
Zanier
Read the full success story here: Zanier’s climate action – fits like a glove
Zanier has been famous for high-quality gloves made for extreme conditions since 1969. Sustainability has always been close to the heart of the Austrian glove expert. Since summer 2018 the company is increasingly focused on climate action.
Zanier worked with ClimatePartner to calculate all the emissions caused by the company in Innsbruck and the manufacturing of all its products, including raw materials and transport to retailers. As emissions have been calculated, Zanier can decide what materials to use in future to make its products as sustainable as possible. Almost no other company is as thorough and systematic about climate action with us as Zanier, and both sides very much enjoyed working together.
Zanier already reduces emissions where possible, through green electricity, a heat pump, energy efficiency or working with environmentally friendly materials like Sympatex. This makes Zanier a role model for climate action as a company and manufacturer. Zanier even takes full responsibility for its unabated emissions and offsets them through two carbon offset projects from the ClimatePartner portfolio:
Zanier supports a project in the Alps because the company is based in the Austrian mountains of Tirol and originated there. ‘Vitalpin KlimaInvestment’ is committed to sustainable development in the Alpine region.
Plus, a wind farm project in China because some of its products are made in China. South of Guyuan, in the province of Hebei, a wind farm has been built with 133 turbines which generate over 405,000 MWh on average. This installation is a guaranteed source of environmentally friendly electricity for the region.
All Zanier products on the market have therefore been carbon neutral and labelled as such since 2019.
"Jan Schüßler and Kira Filip offered us excellent advice and answered all of our questions with their expertise. This has enabled us to gain an entirely new understanding of climate action."
