Nature x Tech: Innovating for a sustainable future is a live event taking place in Munich on Tuesday 18 March. Doors open at 18:30. The event takes place at CGI offices at the following address: Tegernseer Landstraße 161, 81539 Munich.

ClimatePartner Impact and CGI are co-hosting a special evening for innovators, change-makers, and thought leaders to foster conversations about how nature and technology can provide the solutions needed for a sustainable future. This event brings together experts at the forefront of nature investments, carbon removals, and biodiversity monitoring, each providing real-world examples of how innovation is driving both environmental and social impact.

The event will feature three expert speakers, followed by an interactive Q&A session and a networking session to conclude.

Alena Miles
Partnerships Manager – ClimatePartner Impact
Environmental and social impact of carbon-based removals
Nature-based solutions (NbS) offer a powerful and cost-effective way to combat climate change while fostering biodiversity, economic growth, and community resilience. Through practical examples and client case studies, this session will explore how investing in nature can drive meaningful environmental and social impact. We’ll discuss how companies can align their sustainability strategies with high-impact NbS initiatives, helping to bridge the climate finance gap and accelerate progress toward global climate goals.

Raphael Weber
Lead Consultant – CGI
Acoustic monitoring for wildlife conservation
Wildlife conservation faces growing challenges due to poaching, habitat destruction, and human-wildlife conflict. Traditional monitoring methods, such as camera traps and patrols, often fall short in covering vast protected areas effectively. A possible solution is acoustic monitoring which is scalable and non-invasive for detecting and preventing illegal activities while supporting biodiversity conservation. The talk will provide insights into the design and its challenges of a large-scale acoustic monitoring system.

Florian Geiser
Founder – Hula Earth
Unlocking the power of biodiversity monitoring
The world is losing biodiversity at a rapid pace. In the last 50 years alone, we have seen a 70% decline in biodiversity. Simultaneously, there is a massive funding shortfall: 967 billion dollars are needed annually to halt biodiversity loss - but only 148 billion are currently available. One reason is that the impact of nature investments has so far been very difficult to measure, since traditional monitoring was either not accurate enough or not scalable. In this talk you will hear how tech can help us truly track nature's pulse for the first time, leveraging bioacoustics, IoT and AI models, and even going beyond monitoring.
