With our tree plantings in Germany and across Europe, you help transform local forests into climate-resilient mixed forests.
We plant tree species that are better suited to their location and to future climate conditions. This creates forests that are more stable, more resilient, and better equipped for the long term.
How you can support tree planting in Europe
We record the number of trees you would like to support and pass this on to our local partners. You receive a certificate as proof of your contribution.
During the planting season from November to March, our partners plant the trees at European sites affected by extreme weather or insect damage.
Planting trees together
Once a year, we invite supporters to join a two- to three-hour tree planting event. Locations vary depending on the project.
On site, experts explain what matters when planting trees. Afterwards, each participant plants around 10–15 trees.
If required, we organise dedicated events for companies with up to 20 participants – for example a guided forest walk or a joint tree planting activity.
What healthy forests provide
Healthy forests fulfil essential functions for the climate, the environment, and people.
Carbon sinks | Forests store large amounts of CO₂ and help stabilise the climate – globally, regionally, and locally. |
Biodiversity | They provide habitats for a wide range of plant and animal species and support ecological diversity. |
Hydrologic balance | Forests filter water, protect groundwater, and help mitigate extreme events such as droughts and heavy rainfall. |
Protection of erosion | Root systems prevent erosion and stabilise soil – even on slopes. |
Air quality | Forests filter pollutants and improve the air we breathe. |
Recreation | They are important spaces for exercise, relaxation, and experiencing nature. |
Why forest transformation is necessary
Climate change is already having a visible impact on European forests.
Heat, prolonged droughts, and storms weaken many forest stands. Shallow-rooted tree species cannot access deeper water during dry periods and become more vulnerable to pests such as bark beetles.
Transforming forests into climate-resilient mixed forests creates more stable ecosystems that can better cope with these changes.
What you should know
Tree planting in Europe is an additional contribution to climate action. It does not usually result in verified emission reductions (VERs). That is why we combine it, where appropriate, with certified climate projects:
- You finance an international, certified climate project
- At the same time, you enable tree planting in Europe
For every tonne of CO₂ reduced, we plant one tree. This allows you to combine measurable climate action with additional local impact.
