Microstaxx: IT expertise meets climate action

September 26, 2025

IT solutions with vision

For more than 30 years, Microstaxx, an IT service company based in Munich, has been supporting businesses and research institutions in areas such as networking, security, storage, and professional services.

Their current certifications ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements and strengthen the trust of major clients. Partnerships with leading manufacturers guarantee the quality and future viability of the solutions.

In addition to IT security and reliability, Microstaxx focuses on another key topic: climate action and sustainability.

Making climate action understandable in everyday life

Microstaxx introduced an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 back in 2019, firmly anchoring ecological opportunities and risks in the company’s processes.

However, the greater challenge was to make climate action tangible for employees. Carbon emissions are not visible for many people’s daily lives. Therefore, Microstaxx addressed this issue through making every contribution, no matter how small, count.

Collaborating with ClimatePartner

Microstaxx has been calculating its emissions with ClimatePartner since 2021. Two years later, they became a ClimatePartner certified company. Annual results presentations highlight progress and make the potential visible. In the future, the analytics tool in the ClimatePartner Hub will offer even greater transparency.

When selecting climate projects, Microstaxx places particular emphasis on combining ecological benefits with added social value:

Combination of international and local engagement

In India, Microstaxx supports a project that enables women in rural areas to access microloans for solar lamps and water filters. This saves fuel, protects against respiratory diseases, and adds more time for education, family, and work.

At the same time, funding goes to the protection of peatlands in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Intact peatlands store large amounts of carbon and provide habitats for endangered species.

Efficient cookstoves in Zambia

Many people cook over open fires, which poses a significant health risk. The project distributes efficient cookstoves that use less fuel, reduce greenhouse gases, and improve air quality. Around 45,000 households benefit each year, with advantages for the climate, health, and local jobs.

Progress and goals

Microstaxx is pursuing a clear sustainability roadmap:

  • ISO 14001 certification since 2019
  • Regular calculation of the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) since 2021
  • ClimatePartner certified in 2025

The results are reviewed annually (for example, through resource and waste assessments). The next goal is to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 20% by 2028.

To achieve this goal, Microstaxx is implementing concrete measures: renewable electricity, energy-efficient IT, LED lighting, and charging infrastructure for e-mobility. Also, employees are actively involved through incentives for sustainable mobility.

“The future of IT is sustainable”

Microstaxx shows how IT expertise and climate action go hand in hand. Together with ClimatePartner, the company is committed to clear goals, regular transparency, and continuous improvements.
